What is an Advancement Member? Minimize

Advancement members are companies or groups of companies that work on a specific project with NACFAM related to sustainable manufacturing.  NACFAM will help develop frameworks based on existing policies, market drivers and voluntary programs.  Projects will include a component that will be shared with NACFAM membership for best practice sharing.  Please contact NACFAM to learn about current project topics and to determine whether this membership level is right for you.

Deliverables Minimize

NACFAM will provide an initial briefing for the project to the audience of your choice within your company and will work on the project with the employee(s) you identify.

NACFAM will provide your company with a comprehensive report on the state of applicable environmental sustainability policies, agreements and voluntary programs and how your company can maximize benefits in this environment to increase revenues and speed and decrease costs.  It will also summarize, define and prioritize existing barriers based on maximizing benefits quickly.

NACFAM will provide a briefing at the end of the project to highlight findings and share results of the analysis.

Representatives from advancement member companies will be included in an SM roundtable in D.C. with Congressional and Executive Branch leaders.

NACFAM will develop policy recommendations that will help you and the U.S. manufacturing industry.

Creating Value through Decision Frameworks Minimize

NACFAM will help your company define and navigate applicable environmental sustainability policy and market drivers to help drive revenue and increase speed while decreasing cost, by understanding how local, state, Federal and/or International laws, policies, voluntary programs and agreements affect your company. This will include:

  • Determining applicable policies at different levels of governance and how they interact
  • Defining opportunities for realizing value within this policy environment

NACFAM will work with your company to identify and prioritize existing barriers to sustainability. Prioritization will aim to compare these barriers based on the quickest and largest impacts that will increase revenue and speed while decreasing costs through becoming more sustainable. Examples of areas where barriers could exist include, but are not limited to:

  • Improvements to minimize waste, improve efficiency, and reduce resources use
  • "Greening" the supply chain; e.g., by reducing shipping miles or wasteful packaging
  • Existing policies or incompatibility of policies that make sustainability difficult

NACFAM will recommend new programs and policies (or changes to existing ones) to Congress and the Executive Branch that will:

  • Help break existing barriers
  • Assure that new policies aimed at creating the new "Green Economy" will provide benefits to U.S manufacturing and your company for becoming more environmentally sustainable
  • Help U.S. manufacturing and your company use sustainability as a competitive advantage in the global economy by decreasing costs and increasing revenue opportunities
